Jay has just told me that he is going to
war. I am so scared that he will not return safely or even at all. He tried to
reassure me and promise that he will return safely and quickly, however, I am
still unsure if he will be safe. The newspapers throughout the country often
contain dreadful news headlines concerning the war. Many are dying and all I
can do is pray and hope that Jay will fulfill his promise.
Gatsby: Daisy, please do not worry. I will return safely. There is no need to even question my promise. Our love will keep us together no matter what happens.
